Author Biography
Michael A. Sayette, PhD, is Professor of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh, with a secondary appointment as Professor of Psychiatry at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Sayette has published primarily in the area of substance abuse, with a focus on the development of psychological theories of alcohol and tobacco use. Dr. Sayette is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Psychological Science, and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. He is a recipient of the Toy–Caldwell–Colbert Award for Distinguished Educator in Clinical Psychology from the Society of Clinical Psychology (APA Division 12). Dr. Sayette is Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh and has directed graduate admissions for the clinical psychology program. He has presented seminars on applying to graduate school at several universities in North America and Europe.
