Summary

The Gospel Mission Movement (1892 - 1910) branched out of the North China Mission of the Southern Baptist Convention's (SBC) Foreign Mission Board (FMB) to try bold new things. Their innovations have been lost to most Southern Baptists because of the tendency historians have had to associate them with the Landmark movement that threatened the SBC's existence earlier that century. While there is indeed some overlap of emphases, it is now apparent that there's more to the story. The rest of the story sheds light on the Board's continuing missiological sojourn, even as it engages a new millennium.
