Summary

Dr. Hsi was diagnosed in 1995 with a rare coronary disease that caused his death five years later at the age of 44. In 1997, he began a journal--completed posthumously by journalist Belshaw and Hsi's wife Corbin--that chronicled his changing outlook on the teaching and practice of medicine.

Author Biography

Jim Belshaw is a columnist with the Albuquerque Journal.

Beth Corbin-Hsi continues to operate the Albuquerque family medical clinic she and her husband founded in 1988.
