Financial Management: Partner in Driving Performance and Value (FMP) is a comprehensive and practical work covering critical areas of financial management. The book will be an interesting read and will also be retained for future reference. My goal is to have this be a resource book on every finance manager’s desk.
The book is based on the author’s 45 years of experience as CFO, operating executive, consultant and lecturer. Most existing works are academic in nature and do not provide real life solutions and in-depth discussion of critical issues facing financial managers, including:
- Budgeting, Planning and Forecasting (including Roling Forecasts)
- Enterprise Performance Management and Dashboards
- Capital Investment Decisions, including new biz opportunities
- Mergers and Acquisitions
- Valuation of a Business
- Value and Business Drivers
FMP includes expanded and updated content from prior works. In addition, the last several years have presented or accelerated many new challenges to business and finance. The level of uncertainty and pace of change have obsoleted many traditional practices. Nine chapters of new content under the heading: Financial Leadership for the 21st century, to survive in the post covid-19 world. These topics include:
- The Financial Business Partner
- Essential Ingredients for Value Creation: Growth and ROIC
- Managing Human Capital (HC) and Building a High-Performance Finance Team
- Strategic Analysis and Planning
- Finance role in Supporting Growth
- The External View: Markets, Competitors, Economic. Geo-political
- Course Corrections: Business Transformations and Restructurings
- Leveraging and Promoting Technology Investments
- Scenario Analysis and Planning
- Promoting Adaptability: Agility, Innovation and Resilience
