Author Biography

Brian Krabak, MD, MBA, FACSM is a clinical associate professor in the Departments of Rehabilitation, Orthopedics, and Sports Medicine at University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital with expertise in the field of sports medicine. Krabak has extensive sports medicine experience at high-profile events such as the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, 2004 Athens Summer Olympics, and 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, and has served as medical director for the Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, the Boston Marathon, and a dozen other events. He lives in Seattle, Washington.

Grant Lipman, MD, FACEP, FAWM is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. He is the author of The Wilderness First Aid Handbook, as well as dozens of original research articles and book chapters in wilderness and sports medicine. Lipman was served as medical director for ultramrathons around the world, was awarded the Wilderness Medical Society’s 2013 Research Award, and has served as Chair of the Wilderness Medicine Section of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He lives in Redwood City, California.

Brandee L. Waite, MD, FAAPMR is a clinical associate professor in the department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, sub-specializing in Sports Medicine at the University of California Davis School of Medicine. Waite has served as a team physician for professional and elite athletes with USA Track & Field, the National Basketball Association (NBA), and in professional dance. She has been an NCAA team physician for over a decade, has medical directed the California International Marathon, and has been the medical director for long distance running events on every continent in the world. She lives is Sacramento, California.
